Please contact info@adoptastray.ws for more information about this pet. Chestnut is an adorable (born 8/1/15), male Maine coon mix. He's a typical kitten, very sweet, very loving, great with other kittens, especially Cashew his faux sister who he grew up with. Cashew and Chestnut were found in different feral colonies, they were rescued and put together. These nuts were immediate friends, actually they were immediate litter mates as they needed each other desperately. Chestnut needs to be with another young kitten he can play and learn from. Chestnut tested positive for FIV. The positive test was very faint and he will most likely test negative the next time he is tested. Often kittens do not actually have the virus but test positive for the first few months of their lives. This adorable little boy will be retested in a few weeks. If for some reason Chestnut does not convert he will still be up for adoption, as FIV cats can live a normal, healthy long life. FIV is a cat only disease, it cannot be passed on to humans or dogs, it is spread between cats by bite wounds and blood transfusions. FIV cannot be spread casually, casual includes litter boxes, water and food bowls or snuggling and playing. There is no reason why a FIV kitten could not live in a loving home with negative FIV cats. You can meet this wonderful kitty most Saturdays at the Pembroke Pines Petsmart between 12 and 6 pm. You can fill out an application for Chestnut at the Pembroke Pines Petsmart or go to www.adoptastray.ws/applications/ to fill out an application online or print and fax one to (954) 965-0406.
