Deja vu  is a very familiar feeling for lots of people that rescue animals and find them the perfect forever homes. Most of the homes do last a life-time but it is still far too often that the only family a dog or cat has ever known ends up moving and deciding not to take their animals with them. Or they become pregnant and some misguided person tells them they cannot be around a cat while they are expecting. Or after five years a relative suddenly becomes allergic. Or, here's a good one - we just don't have time for him and we know he would be happier in a new home! Seriously?! Same stories. Different cats.

In Minnie's case, her loving family of 7 years had a baby and there was no longer enough love or space or something for Minnie and just that fast, Minnie became a homeless cat. Of course, she was not part of the discussion or the decision so it was a total shock to her. When someone gives up their pet, they can tell themselves they've done the best they can and they move on. But when a cat is given up,  all they know is that their family is gone and they grieve - for weeks or months or even longer. And it doesn't help that the home they knew has quite often been replaced with a cage in a noisy shelter or store. It can be devastating.

Minnie has adjusted - partially. She is torn between wanting & enjoying attention and making sure we still know how upset she is to be in a cage in a room with 10 other cats. We know how wonderful she is because we've taken her to the vet and she was so happy to be out of the cat room at PetSmart that she was a totally different cat. She was sweet and friendly and didn't have that lost look in her eyes. She probably thought that she was going home. This beautiful girl is part of our Second Chance Program. We are hoping someone will take a chance on her and get to see just how wonderful she really is. We would consider a trial adoption to the right home to make sure everyone is happy.  If you've got a heart of gold and love to share with Minnie, you can meet her at the PetSmart in Aventura or call the number below to discuss our Second Chance Program.
