Show me the Brush!! That's Sierra's mantra.
She loves to be brushed! Just show her the brush and you can see the excitement in her eyes that someone is going to brush her full gorgeous coat. If she knows you, she may even roll over on her side so you can get to every bit of her.
Sierra was rescued as a kitten from high up in a tree. She was crying hysterically but when her eyes met her rescuer’s eyes she immediately knew she was safe. This sweet loving girl has been waiting patiently for someone to come and notice her. She loves being petted but rather than approaching visitors and requesting attention she just waits quietly for someone to come over and greet her.
Sierra’s playful side comes out when you bring out a laser pointer. She loves trying to catch that little red light.
Sierra's Vacation Update
An adopt a stray volunteer took Sierra home to give her a break from the Petsmart Adoption Center and watch her progress as she adapted to a new home.
Day One
Sierra was allowed to explore the bedroom where she would first stray by herself for about 3 hours. When the volunteer entered the room Sierra was hiding under the futon (most new cats do). After sitting on the floor and gently talking and calling her name Sierra came out and not only accepted but loved getting petted and loved on.
Day Two and Three:
Sierra comes out from under the futon immediately when the Adopt A Stray volunteer enters the room. She walks around the room with her tail up, exploring all the areas, looking out the window and jumping on the futon to get the petting and attention she wants.
Day Four
A friend that Sierra does not know goes into the room without the volunteer. She sits on the floor and calls Sierra's name and Sierra comes out and rubs all over her.
Day Five
Sierra is very excited to see anyone who come visits and wants to give her some attention. Always jumping on the futon for some attention.
Day Six
Because Sierra as well as the other cats in the home have a lot of experience getting used to new cats, she was allowed to come out of the room and meet the other cats. Sierra explored the entire house and met all the other cats. All introductions went very well, When Sierra feels a little unsure, she heads back to the room where she started and hangs out in the doorway.
Day Seven Plus
Sierra continues to enjoy all the freedom she has in a home, she especially loves climbing the ladder to the loft and spending time up high. Her place to get attention continues to be the futon since the couch and the bed is usually dominated by the other cats in the home. We're confident that in a home with less cats she will be sleeping with you and curling up on the couch with you to watch a movie or two. Sierra also enjoys an occasional game of chase with Riker (one of the other foster cats). Sometimes she's the chaser, sometimes she's the chasee.
Sierra has a wonderful easy going personality and has adapted extremely well to living and loving a home environment. Please consider giving her the opportunity to be a member of your family.
You can meet this wonderful kitty at the Pembroke Pines Petsmart where she is currently living.
