It was 95 degrees out and Bud was walking around a N Miami neighborhood, looking for shade, and maybe a place to curl up and die. His skin was peeling off, full of bugs, with no hair covering the middle of his back to his tail. We thought he deserved more of a chance to live, so we drove him to Hollywood Animal Hospital. He had to be lifted in and out of the car, but he was very cooperative. He spent 4 nights there, and recovered from heat exhaustion, was treated for a massive yeast and urinary infections and given medicated baths. He has been with his current foster home for 4 days and is on antibiotics. He is not neutered because he is not in good enough health yet and the chance of of infection with the surgery is too great. He is heartworm negative. He is about 9 years old, and may have had a home at one time, but has probably been on the street for a long time. He is underweight at 45 lbs, and should get up to 50-52lbs. He is not at all aggressive, gets along with other dogs and is ok with cats. His skin will get better, but it will take time. He is happy to go for walks, and loves the backyard, but he cannot live outside again. We'd like him to have a safe place to spend the rest of his life.
