The pet overpopulation epidemic is so staggering, that for every animal born in the United States to have a home, each and every human being would have to own 6 dogs and 9 cats.  So a family of four..(2 parents and 2 children) would have to own 24 dogs and 36 cats.

 Each day, 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. -- and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all of the animals. As a result, every year 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized.   

Miami-Dade Animal Services receives more than 100 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens every day, 7 days a week.   Most of them do not get adopted.
