Street Cat Goes Soft

We all know what we think of when we talk about a “tom” cat  - that was “Fava”.  Big head, big jowls, some scars, bruises and lots of testosterone.  Fava Bean was part of the trailer park cats that were rescued in early 2009. It is doubtful that Fava ever had a real home, he was not neutered, obviously been a fighter as toms are and didn’t play with toys or nicely with other cats.

Fava has been in foster care for several months now. His foster mom is crazy about him, but can’t keep him as Fava does not like dogs or other cats and lives in a room, usually by himself.

In the past few months Fava has gone from street cat to lap cat, he has learned how to play with toys and loves human companionship. Fava cries when he is put to bed each night or when he hears his foster mom coming to visit. He is desperate for a home of his own, maybe with a window or a screened in porch.

He just wants someone to love!

Fava Update:  6/9/11:

This sweet boy is still looking for his forever home. His foster mom loves him dearly and desperately wants him to be happy and loved. In the last year Fava has been through a lot. He got a deep jaw infection that had to be treated for 6 weeks with antibiotics. In general cats are not known for being easy to pill, but it's a blessing that Fava takes his medicine without complaint. Next he had to have a dental procedure...it seems that when he was homeless he ate whatever he could to survive and it probably meant pebbles and bones. He had several broken and cracked teeth on one side. Most recently he developed a hematoma on his left ear (when blood gets into the ear and separates the skin), so on 6/11 Fava had his ear surgically turned into a pin cushion. (Check out his video taken shortly after his surgery). With all his medical needs taken care of, Fava simply needs a family to return his love and affection.

Since Fava doesn't like other animals his foster mom, who we know already loves him, built a cat fence on the side of her house. This fence allows him to get out of his small bathroom to a safe protected area. No other animals can get in and Fava can't get out. Fava loves his area but is very lonely most of the time. As much as Fava enjoys his expanded living area, what he really wants is a family to love and who will keep him company.

If you only want one pet and you want one with a super personality  ...consider Fava. He is a great catch.
